His Right

     She was loud

          And brassy,

               Bold,

                    Sassy.

Annoying.

     Center of attention,

          Life of the party,

               Kind to strangers,

Magnet for weirdos.

Embarrassing.

He was right

Shutting her down,

Saving herself

For himself.

He was right

To convince her

How very right he was.

His right

Was her right,

     A study in self control.

          Dignity.

               Class.

                    Calm.

                         Distance.

He knew he was right.

                     …But then she left.
